The Iconic "Y" Necklace featuring Artistic Wire Shimmer Tools

This week on Facebook Live, I debuted my new "go-to" tool set from Beadalon & Artistic Wire - the Artistic Wire Shimmer Line Tool Set. Currently they are available as a Kit which includes a Chain Nose Pliers, Bent Chain Nose Pliers, Flat Nose Pliers, Round Nose Pliers, and Nipper. The set is a good value for the money - really high quality tools at a reasonable price point. Two of my favorite things!

To show how each of these tools is indispensable in my Tool Box, I demonstrated one of my favorite "go-to" necklaces to make - a "Y" Necklace.  Remember those? I think they are making a comeback, big time. They are easy to make, look great on everyone, and are a great way to use up the few leftover beads from a bigger stringing project!

Materials:
18.75 inches of 340B-001 Chain
315B-032 Lobster Clasp
(2) 322B-014 Tag

(1) A314-20S-10-08 AW Chain Maille Jump Ring
(3) A314-20S-10-03 AW Chain Maille Jump Rings
5 Beads (I used 6mm Firepolish beads)

Tools:
201K-150 Shimmer Tool Kit

Instructions:
  1. Cut two 8 inch lengths of Chain.
  2. Cut one more length of Chain 2.75 inches.
  3. Thread each of three beads onto a Headpin and make a Simple or Wrapped Loop on all of them.
  4. Use the larger Chain Maille Jump Ring to attach the three wrapped loops to the end of the short piece of Chain.
  5. Use a smaller Chain Maille Jump Ring to attach the top of the short piece of Chain to the small circle of the Tag.
  6. Use the 26 Gauge German Style Wire to attach the Chain to the large loop of the Tag with a Wrapped Loop.
  7. Add a Bead to the Wrapped loop, and attach one of the longer pieces of Chain with another wrapped loop.
  8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 to attach the other Chain.
  9. Use the small Chain Maille Jump Rings to attach the Lobster Clasp and Tag to the ends of the Chain to finish the necklace.
You can watch the replay to see the project in real time, and also check out the YouTube Video for a step by step break down.

Thanks for joining us, and see you next time!
Happy Beading,
Meredith
